Meet Shawn Dyson – Shawn competed at the Skills Show in 2016 where he achieved a Gold Medal in Body Repair. Shawn is now back hoping to be selected for the World Skills squad for 2019 in Russia.

Chartwell as an employer have had a huge success with training their employees to such high standards. Shawn is one of many that has done incredibly well at the Skills Show over the years.
“I’ve always been into cars, my Dad is also into cars so there’s a family interest. On leaving school, I went straight into an apprenticeship for a bus company then moved to Chartwell in Derby.
I enjoyed last year’s National Qualifiers, the final was brilliant. It helps you cope under pressure. It also made me realise that I need to work on time management.
The hotel! It looks amazing! But mostly looking forward to the opportunity of competing Internationally. I’d say to anyone thinking of taking part, go for it.
One day I’d like to own my own business. It’s a future goal”
